Why Horus

Flown by the book. Delivered with care.

Southern California has some of the busiest airspace in the country. Certification, authorization, insurance, and site safety are part of every job, not extras.

  • Part 107

FAA-certified remote pilots on every flight

  • Level I

    Certified thermographer on thermal work

  • 5 counties

    Core Southern California coverage

  • Insured

    Commercial liability coverage

  • Certified, authorized flights

Every flight is flown by an FAA-certified remote pilot under Part 107. When a site sits in controlled airspace, we request FAA authorization through LAANC or DroneZone before flight day.

  • Safety on your site

We check in on arrival, follow your site safety plan and PPE requirements, and plan every flight around people, equipment, and active work.

  • Insured operations

We carry commercial liability insurance. Certificates of insurance and a W-9 are available for vendor onboarding.

  • A specialist on thermal work

Thermal inspections are planned and interpreted by a Level I certified thermographer, not just a pilot with a thermal camera.

  • Mapping, done the legal way

In California, finished maps and volume reports are land surveying. We capture the data, and a licensed land surveyor produces and certifies those products.

  • Careful with your data

Deliverables arrive through secure links, and we never publish your project imagery without your permission.

How it works

From first call to final files.

Planning, FAA authorization, and site coordination happen before anyone arrives, so flight day is predictable.

Tell us the site, what you need, and when. We confirm deliverables and send a written quote.

  2. Plan

We check airspace, request FAA authorization where needed, and coordinate access, safety requirements, and timing.

  3. Fly

Certified pilots capture the imagery on site, working within your site’s safety rules.

  4. Review

Everything is checked for quality and completeness, edited where needed, and organized.

  5. Deliver

Files and reports arrive in standard formats through a secure download link.

FAQ

Common questions

Straight answers about airspace, deliverables, and what to expect.

Can you fly near airports?

Usually, yes. Much of Southern California sits in controlled airspace around LAX, John Wayne, Long Beach, Ontario, and dozens of smaller airports. We check every site in advance and request FAA authorization, usually through LAANC, before flight day. A few places, such as areas under temporary flight restrictions, need extra lead time or can’t be flown, and we’ll tell you up front.

Can you make orthomosaics, 3D models, or volume reports?

In California, turning aerial photos into maps tied to the earth’s surface, such as orthomosaics, elevation models, point clouds, contours, and volume calculations, is land surveying. It must be done by or under a licensed land surveyor. We plan and fly the capture and deliver organized data to your surveyor, and if you don’t have one, we can recommend one.

Who flies my project?

An FAA-certified remote pilot. Our founders fly and manage projects, and when a job needs more coverage or a tighter schedule, we bring in additional FAA-certified pilots.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry commercial liability insurance, and we can send a certificate of insurance and a W-9 for vendor onboarding.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Wind, rain, and low clouds can ground a flight, and thermal work needs specific conditions to produce meaningful data. If conditions aren’t safe or won’t give you good results, we’ll reschedule with you.

How do we receive the files?

Through a secure download link, organized by date and site, in standard formats such as JPG, MP4, PDF, radiometric thermal images, and CSV or KML flight logs. Tell us what software your team uses and we’ll match it.

How much does a project cost?

Every project is quoted individually, based on the site, the deliverables, travel, and airspace. Send us the details and we’ll reply with questions or a written quote, typically within one business day.

Do you capture neighboring properties or people?

We plan each flight to capture your site, follow FAA rules on flying over people and moving vehicles, and avoid recording people in private settings.
